Corey Cox Bio
In the final minutes before Corey Cox takes to the stage, no matter the
venue or size of the crowd, his routine is the same. A few fist pounds with
his band, a hug from Mom, and a short chat with his Dad. It happens fast,
but it happens. It is a routine that the twenty-two year old has gone through
multiple times throughout the past three years.
Over the course of those three years, Cox has gone from playing to a
crowd of six in his family room, to signing a publishing contract with
Nashville's Better Angels Music, to performing the National Anthem in front
of 60,000 fans at an Indianapolis Colts game, a packed Conseco Coliseum
at an Indiana Pacers/Miami Heat game, and in concert with dozens of
national touring acts.
In the small Indiana town of Markleville, IN, a historic community with a
population near 400, Cox learned the benefits of family, friends, hard work,
playing sports -- and listening to country music.
的 think growing up listening to country music is what drove me to actually
sing country once I started playing," Cox says. 的 know the hometown, reallife
stories you experience growing up in a small community are definitely
reflected in my music."
的 remember getting my first guitar and learning to play it from reading a
book," Cox says. 的 started strumming along with some Garth Brooks
songs. When I saw other people's reaction to my music, I knew
immediately what I wanted to do. Being able to perform, and to see the
reaction of our fans, is exactly why I chose this career. We do this for the
fans."
From The Diamond To Music City
Cox was a multi-sport athlete in high school and played college baseball at
Anderson University, but it was his love of music and performing that
caused him to change his focus and his goals. His first band, made up of
friends from school, performed whenever schedules allowed and a willing
venue agreed. Since the humble beginnings of small bars and small
crowds, Cox's show has elevated to among the best in the country and his
performances are in prestigious music clubs, fairs and festivals throughout
the country.
From Florida to Minnesota, Oklahoma to Boston, his ambitious schedule
has included playing with national acts such as Diamond Rio, Travis Tritt,
Justin Moore, Tracy Lawrence, Clay Walker, David Nail, and many more.
Regardless the town or venue, one thing that is evident about Cox and his
highly entertaining show is that they are always well received. Talent
buyers are always be eager to book Cox and his band at future events.
Cox takes pride in building a highly energetic show with a passionate
delivery of his music. He is a very likeable performer and has a
believability factor that is hard to find in most young artists. There is no
mistaking the raw passion and emotion in his voice.
The Next Step
Cox's path to success took a significant leap forward in August of 2010,
when he signed on as a staff songwriter with Better Angels Music in
Nashville.
釘etter Angels Music is proud to welcome one of the best young artists in
country music to our roster in Corey Cox," said veteran music producer
and Better Angels Music founder Rob Rappaport. 的 think in the short time
he has been with us, Corey has grown tremendously by writing and
performing with our talented staff. He has a gift both with words and with
his voice. Corey is exactly the type of songwriter and performer we are
looking for as Better Angels continues to become a major player in
Nashville."
Cox has built a reputation within the country music industry, especially in
Nashville, as one of the best live performers in the business. He is a future
star, and he humbly gives much of the credit for his success to finding
players for his band who are as talented as him. 的 am nothing without my
band," Cox says. 摘veryone in the band, and everyone on our team for
that matter, makes a lot of sacrifices. I am only as good as the guys
playing behind me. It's exciting because with each show we play, we get
tighter."
2011 promises big things in Cox's fast-moving career. A record label deal
is in the works and a nationally-released single is planned for spring. In a
big, tough industry, the young man from a small town in America's
heartland is thriving. Cox adds, 典his business can be scary at times.
However, with the support of my family, my friends and the many new fans
we make each night, I think the sky's the limit."
